I think about this little book a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though the Neoclassicists are best known for their Classically-inspired history paintings, Johnson reminds us that it was under their brush that mythological themes became an important subject throughout the 19th century. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"internal-linking-related-contents\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thomasparkerhudson.com\/wordpress\/2012\/10\/stephen-pentak-at-bonfoey\/\" class=\"template-2\"><span class=\"cta\">Read more<\/span><span class=\"postTitle\">Stephen Pentak at Bonfoey<\/span><\/a><\/div><p>Beginning with the young David (1748&ndash;1829), Johnson traces her theme until the heyday of Delacroix (1798 &ndash;1863).
