I had lumped him with Sargent and other late-19th-century artists who I consider superficial and fashionable. He&rsquo;s much better than Sargent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having said that, this etching, <em>The Hammock<\/em> (1880), is a little too saccharine for me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"internal-linking-related-contents\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thomasparkerhudson.com\/wordpress\/2015\/04\/in-the-studio-42515\/\" class=\"template-2\"><span class=\"cta\">Read more<\/span><span class=\"postTitle\">In the studio 4\/25\/15<\/span><\/a><\/div><p>The etching on the front page is titled <em>At the Seaside<\/em>.
