After completing studies for my next BIG painting, I’m ready to start painting. At 5′ x 6′, this is my largest painting in more than a decade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A painting of this size stretches my resources to the limit. My prime easel will be able to support it (barely), but in a restricted way. My current studio has a high ceiling, but nowhere near the 20-foot high ceiling of my studio in New Jersey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is a photo of the canvas next to my big easel and my small easel. I also have two other easels, the old one and the broken one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I haven’t named the painting yet. I work by images, impressions, and contemplation in a back-and-forth manner. This is why making studies is important for me. Studies help me discover what the painting wants from me. In this case, while my original thought was to make it horizontal, I’ve decided to make it vertical by working through the studies. I’ll remove some figures and rearrange others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
