Here are three paintings I’ve started.  The drawings for the bottom two were recently finished<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All three are in the under-painting stage. These deviate somewhat from the more strict under-painting demonstrated in the ‘The Call.’<\/a> In that painting, the under-painting is restricted to neutrals, whereas in these the local color (still well towards neutral, however) is introduced from the beginning.<\/p>\n

In the bottom painting, I’ve removed some landscape details from my original design. In the middle painting, I added the landscape. I wonder sometimes about how much the things I do in a painting (like removing landscape details) effect the next painting (like adding landscape details).<\/p>\n

The top painting is a smaller version of a large still-life I sold a few years ago. There were some things about that painting that felt unresolved, so I decided to do another version.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
