I spend a considerable amount of time on the drawing before touching a brush. Once painting starts, I try to work as efficiently as possible. It doesn&rsquo;t always work out&ndash;so much can go awry. But the point of so much preparation is go get a painting to the finishing stage where it&rsquo;s just plain fun. Hand and mind work as one and problems, if they arise, are easily solved. <em>Dinner in Trenton<\/em> is almost at the finishing stage. A little more spade work here and there I&rsquo;ll light the rocket! They day is so pleasant I&rsquo;m wearing shorts. My medium has a lot of stuff you <em>do not<\/em> want on your skin&ndash;lead-based siccatives for one.
