Woman in Purple Boots II<\/em> is getting to that point where it’s fun to paint. The groundwork has been done and now it’s time to have fun. Painting can be compared to building a house. You need to calculate the amount of cement, 2″ x 4″s, and roof shingles. You need to calculate the time needed and the logistics–the order in which things should be done. If all goes well, you finish on time, within budget, and with not enough scrap to start a fire.<\/p>\n

I just went thorough a restless period. In the months leading up to it, I disciplined myself to only work on important things. That means large, complicated paintings. That also means disciplining myself regarding logistics–not cutting corners and jumping ahead to the ‘fun’ stuff (when things are going well, it’s all<\/em> fun to me). During my restlessness, I worked on small paintings and pastels. But now I’m back in the saddle.<\/p>\n
