On the Square<\/em> is part of my Playhouse Square series<\/a>–a series of paintings with subjects taken from Cleveland’s Playhouse Square<\/a>. At 4′ by 5′, On the Square<\/em> is at the outer limit for an easel painting. Any larger and you need a heavy-duty easel (or two) or a mural-style one. I don’t own one of those. When I work on large-format paintings, I set them on boxes and use ladders or lie on the ground as needed.<\/p>\n

One problem I don’t have with my current arrangement is getting large paintings out of the studio.  I’ve had studios in the past when I had to be very careful about painting size, or I couldn’t get them out!  Without taking them apart and rolling them up, anyway.  In my current studio, I can get nearly any size painting out without stress<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
