I stretched a lot of 40&Prime; x 50&Prime; canvases last year and <em>The Break<\/em> is one of them. Its only limitation is that its fast drying time can&nbsp;make working on large areas, such as the ground in this painting, challenging. That is, smooth transitions are more difficult with fast-drying paint than the normal slow-drying oil. One solution is to add some balsam, like Canadian balsam, to the turpentine. It retards drying time just a little, but it&rsquo;s enough to ensure smooth transitions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Break is 40&Prime; x 50&Prime;.
