I’ve been working on paintings that take a lot of time recently, such as the lower one in this photo.  The drawing in the bottom painting was done with pencil and then fixed with ink.  Everything was drawn several times.  The drawing in the top painting was done directly with OMS-thinned paint over a neutral ground.<\/p>\n

Of course, this still-life is pretty simple.  The ground on this canvas is lighter than I typically use, so I’ve painted this first layer thickly–really troweled it on. Even so, with my fast-drying medium, the work I did yesterday was dry this morning.<\/p>\n

The larger painting, Girl in Purple Boots II<\/em>, still has a long way to go. For example, you can see that one of the purple-booted girl’s boots is less developed than the other.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
