In January, I wrote about breaking my stalwart palette knife<\/a>.  After using the knife daily for years, I really miss it.  It was like losing a hand.  I have plenty of knives but the one that broke was my favorite.<\/p>\n

So I ordered three replacement knives–model Richeson 830 just like the one that broke.  You can see the trio in the photo–the right-most knives.  Notice anything?  The photo is not too clear but one (the one on the farthest right) of the replacements has already broken.  I’ve had it less than a year.  I noticed when I received them that the welds were poorly done.  When the other two break (soon I expect), I won’t be ordering any more of them, or any Richeson models.  <\/p>\n

The knife to the left of the Richesons (the fourth from the right) is a Liquitex model that handles similarly to the Richeson 830, only stiffer.  I’ll see if I can get used to it; I’ve had it for a long time.  It does not have a weld.  From now on, I will only buy weldless knives.<\/p>\n
