I finished the underpainting today for Portrait of a Man Wearing Sunglasses<\/em>, my second session with the painting. The painting is 32″ x 48.” Simple composition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike last week’s Fork<\/em>, I transferred the design to the canvas with a cartoon. For Fork<\/em>, because it’s so large, I drew directly on the canvas then inked over the pencil drawing.

The painting has a ways to go, of course. Someone asked me if I ever feel uncomfortable displaying unfinished work. Short answer–nope! I realize that a lot of people assume everything I post is finished. I find studying the unfinished work of others rewarding.
