True, paintings almost never live up to the vision in my mind&rsquo;s eye, but I start every new painting with the same anticipation. There&rsquo;s a long way to go, eh? I am sharing this because when I was youg I was keen to see how artists worked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"internal-linking-related-contents\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thomasparkerhudson.com\/wordpress\/2012\/10\/cleveland-museum-of-art\/\" class=\"template-2\"><span class=\"cta\">Read more<\/span><span class=\"postTitle\">Cleveland Museum of Art Opens Renovations<\/span><\/a><\/div><p> The drawing is completed and fixed with varnish. I started with the darker tones, keeping them simple warm and cold tones&ndash;no local color. The ground is a neutral tan; contrast it to the white wall behind the painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This painting moves away from the large-scale figures I&rsquo;ve been working with lately. Smaller than life figures ( <em>The Green Umbrella<\/em> is 40&Prime; x 50&Prime;) <g class=\"gr_ gr_43 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace\" id=\"43\" data-gr-id=\"43\">were<\/g> in a lot of my paintings a year or so back.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first day painting on a new design is always exiting.
