My biggest fear about the incoming Biden administration is becoming all too real. The current US administration seems to be hellbent on war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukrainian President Zelensky, by singing decree No. 117\/2021<\/a>, has virtually declared war against Russia. US Secretary of Defense Austin<\/a>, a former board member of Raytheon, promises unwavering US support for Ukraine. Many in Russia assume Zelensky would never have signed the decree without a blank check from Washington. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m hoping that cooler heads prevail, although it’s clear that the US is becoming more bellicose every day. Some fear fullout Russian-Ukraian war by May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are some hopeful signs. One sign is a recent discussion about issues of mutual interest between the chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another hopeful sign is the recent Franco-German statement calling on “all parties” to de-escalate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s shocking to me that this story isn’t given more attention by the US press. The narrative that portrays Biden as turning his back on Trump’s ‘isolationism’ to a ‘more engaged’ posture satisfies most journalist’s curiosity. US journalists are partisan operatives and little else. The only US commentator that is giving the issue attention is Ron Paul.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
