Art students frequently struggle over how to start a painting. Once started poorly, a painting is hard to correct. I’ve shared the starting stages of several of my paintings for art students struggling with starting a painting.
I expected my previous post about the progress of my new painting, Liberty Avenue, to be the final post about the painting. For me, a painting leaves the starting phase after its entire surface has paint on it, even if the merest suggestions. By this definition, Liberty Avenue was still in the starting phase when I last shared its progress. Now every part is covered with paint and the real work begins.
