I bought a brush set from Fuumuui: 8-piece kolinsky sable watercolor brushes. This is a tremendous bargain at $21.99 on Amazon.
I used the brushes on one of my oil paintings and they performed passably much to my surprise. I expect they’ll fall apart quickly under the abuse of oil painting with its strong solvents. But even if I get 4-5 uses out of them, they’re still a good buy. If you use them for their intended purpose–watercolor–they are even more compelling.
The price is actually too good to be true so I am skeptical about the claim they the brushes are genuine sable. For what it’s worth, Fuumuui maintains that the brushes are made with “Superior Sable Hairs.” Regardless of what they’re made with, they perform better than average. I am happy with this purchase.
