This recently finished sketch is on a canvas board that was prepared as I described in an earlier post. I deviated from my normal medium with the addition of a small amount of stand oil.

We lived close to the State hospital in Trenton for several years in a neighborhood called Hilltonia. Hilltonia is a great neighborhood known for being along the path Washington used after crossing the Delaware on his march to Trenton.
I regularly rode my bike and walked my dog through the expansive hospital grounds. The older architecture made the campus seem like a Gothic novel or movie set. Although the hospital was, and probably still is, open, it was eerily deserted most times–except for the ghosts.
